Hourly Rate: £13.50 – £14.50
Part-Time Hours (includes occasional weekend work)
Our client is looking for a talented and passionate Chef to join their dedicated care home team. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by preparing high-quality, nutritious meals that support residents’ wellbeing. The successful candidate will bring creativity, leadership, and a strong understanding of dietary needs to ensure every mealtime is both enjoyable and nourishing.
Working in a friendly and person-centred environment, the Chef will help lead the kitchen team, contribute to menu planning, and maintain high standards of food safety and kitchen efficiency.
What Our Client Is Looking For
- Proven experience as a Chef or Sous Chef, ideally within a care home or healthcare setting
- Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, nutrition, and food presentation
- Experience with special diets, food textures, and hydration needs (e.g., pureed diets, allergies)
- Food Hygiene Certificate and understanding of current food safety legislation
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
- A creative approach and a passion for delivering outstanding meals
- A relevant catering or culinary qualification is preferred
- A commitment to inclusive practices and respectful care
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and present a variety of high-quality dishes, ensuring each meal meets residents’ nutritional needs and dietary preferences
- Lead and support kitchen staff, promoting a positive and efficient working environment
- Develop, review, and update menus regularly, incorporating seasonal ingredients and special dietary requirements
- Manage kitchen supplies, including ordering and stock control, while adhering to budgetary guidelines
- Ensure strict compliance with food hygiene, COSHH, infection control, and health & safety regulations
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen at all times
- Work collaboratively with the care home team to enhance the overall dining experience for residents
